Database structures for mathematical programming models

چکیده

In both the design and use of large-scale mathematical programming systems, a substantial portion of the effort has no direct relation to the variables and constraints, but is instead concerned with the description, manipulation and display of data. Established principles of database design do not apply directly to mathematical programming, however, because there are significant differences of organization and content between the data for an optimization model and the data for a conventional database application such as payroll or order entry. This paper derives fundamental principles of database construction for largescale mathematical programming, by use of a steel mill planning model as an example. Alternative formulations for the model—which incorporate aspects of production and network linear programming—are presented at the outset, and are shown to correspond to relational and hierarchical database schemes that have contrasting strengths and weaknesses. A particular implementation of the steel optimization package is then presented as an illustration. A concluding section puts this work into perspective, by surveying and categorizing a variety of approaches for providing data management features in mathematical programming applications. The views of data offered by this paper’s approach are seen to differ substantially from the views offered by traditional mathematical programming systems, and certain “intermediate” strategies for integration of database and mathematical programming software are identified as having particular promise for future work. A zero one programming model for RNA structures with arclength ≥ 4

In this paper, we consider RNA structures with arc-length 4 . First, we represent these structures as matrix models and zero-one linearprogramming problems. Then, we obtain an optimal solution for this problemusing an implicit enumeration method. The optimal solution corresponds toan RNA structure with the maximum number of hydrogen bonds.

Efficiency of Centralized Structures in Data Envelopment Analysis Ratio Models

This paper investigates the centralized resource allocation with centralized structures by using the data envelopment analysis-ratio (DEA-R) models. To this end, it proposes a method to determine the resource allocation of centralized structures such that the ratio of inputs to outputs are minimized.

Mathematical Programming Models for Solving Unequal-Sized Facilities Layout Problems - a Generic Search Method

This paper present unequal-sized facilities layout solutions generated by a genetic search program named LADEGA (Layout Design using a Genetic Algorithm). The generalized quadratic assignment problem requiring pre-determined distance and material flow matrices as the input data and the continuous plane model employing a dynamic distance measure and a material flow matrix are discussed. GENETIC PROGRAMMING AND MULTIVARIATE ADAPTIVE REGRESION SPLINES FOR PRIDICTION OF BRIDGE RISKS AND COMPARISION OF PERFORMANCES

In this paper, two different data driven models, genetic programming (GP) and multivariate adoptive regression splines (MARS), have been adopted to create the models for prediction of bridge risk score. Input parameters of bridge risks consists of safe risk rating (SRR), functional risk rating (FRR), sustainability risk rating (SUR), environmental risk rating (ERR) and target output. The total ...
